Woo...the wonderful girlfriend that I have, has bought me a pair of Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binoculars for my b-day.
They should be arriving sometime in the next few weeks! Yay!

Not much to tell, I was only out for about an hour before the badly collomated binoculars annoyed me enough to go in, and start on a hunt to get good ones.
In that time, I saw Jupiter (doubled :-( ) which is a bright yellow spot on 10x50 binoculars, no moons to be made out.
I also saw M13, which was a faint smudge, better detected with averted vision.
I went looking for M4, but did not find it.
On Sat 7/15 I went out with the new cheap Bushnells, and went looking for M4 again, and this time I found it, very dim, even with averted vision. That might have been the atmosphere as Antares was pulsating between red and green in color.
Jupiter was again, a bright yellow ball, single this time though!

Well, I was able to go out Friday night for about an hour or so. It was about then that I realized that my cheapo binoculars had really crapped the bed, and I was getting double images of everything.
Looking online, it appears to be a collomation problem. Since they are $25 K-Mart specials, I am not too worried about it. I went out and bought a $35 special from Target, and used them for about 5 min last night, and was happy with them.
I dont mind spending the $35 now, while I save up for better equiptment. Which is going to take a while. :-)

Well, it rained all night last night, and looks to be cloudy/rainy tonight as well.
It is supposed to clear up tomorrow though, and the Clear Sky Clock is showing some prime viewing conditions from 10pm - 1am ish.
I should be able to get out then. I hope.

So I poked my head out, and looked towards the sky last night at around 10pm, and saw a nice haze covering everything again. I was able to make out Jupiter and Spica, but that was about it. And even they looked horrible, naked eye, through the haze.
It looks like I am going to be clouded in for the next night or two, so I will post back in a few days.

Well, we got a nasty T-Storm during the night...nasty enough to wake me up a bit.
Right now there are clouds everywhere, but according to the CSAC it is supposed to clear up around midnight. Which is probably going to be too late for me. We'll see.

Well, that plan is out the window, as not only have T-Storm heads moved in tonight, but there is also a nice, thick haze covering the mountains across the lake from my viewing area.
Maybe later in the week.

Well, this is an interesting idea. I plan on logging all my observations on this blog, as taken from my observing notes.
Admittedly, my notes suck, and I don't get to observe all that often though, so maybe this will give me a kick in the pants.
Looking at the CSAC for tonight, it looks as though their will be no clouds. While that would normally be a good thing, well, since there is a Full Moon tonight, it is not the optimal ideal for viewing the things that I want to.
No biggie though, as I will attempt to get out, and do some lunar observing with my binoculars.
